American Denim Manufacturer Cone Mills White Oak to Close Doors
Historic American Denim Manufacturer Announces Closure for December 2017
For American denim manufacturer-driven brands and their customers, a blue Christmas may be on the cards this year. It’s sad news when you hear that America’s most prestigious denim plantation will be no more.
Here at Bullet Blues, it’s with a heavy heart that we share this devastating update from the best American denim manufacturer. On December 31st, the Cone Denim White Oak plant in Greensboro, North Carolina will officially be closing its factory doors for good. After 112 years of producing the highest quality blue denim material dollars can buy, this bittersweet closure really is the end of an era.
The Nation’s Favorite American Denim Manufacturer – Cone White Oak Plant
Famous for manufacturing some of America’s finest denim of the past century, local businesses and big brands alike have depended on this outstanding quality for so many years that it’s impossible to imagine life without such a reputable denim source.
American Denim Manufacturer, Cone Denim White Oak is to thank for the classic selvedge-stitched fabric style we know and love, and we’re sad to inform our loyal customers that Bullet Blues’ partnership will also come to a close as a result. What made their production process truly original and special was the fact that every batch of premium denim was spun from traditional shuttle looms, rather than relying on too many of today’s mass-produced looms. Modern denim looms don’t quite offer the same woven textures as their old-fashioned shuttle counterparts.
So what does this mean for the future of American-made jeans? While there’s no glossing over the fact that the American denim manufacturer industry will see changes – most likely through a higher volume of jeans made in Japan, as well as more competitive pricing for designer denim exclusively made in the USA – rest assured that this will not be a permanent end for authentic American apparel as we know it.
In Bullet Blues’ case, every pair of jeans you order from our brand will continue to offer the 100% Made in USA seal of approval, with quality craftsmanship you can trust. Luckily, we still have access to a large supply of American-made ladies and men’s jeans, with each pair crafted using Cone Mills denim and stocked safely inside our warehouse. Bullet Blues has also acquired an exclusive bulk order of raw denim from the historic White Oak flagship in advance, so we have access to plenty of the finest fabric heading into 2018. It really does pay to be prepared. And we’re excited to share that we’ll be looking into partnership with Mt Vernon, the last American-made denim manufacturer in the not so distant future. Watch this space for further updates next year!
